Rihanna’s anticipated skincare line, FentySkin dropped last week and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. If you didn’t get it this first go round, then you may be out of luck for now because it sold out. But I’m sure she will restock as it seems promising. I really didn’t start getting serious about my skincare until about a year ago. My elders really know what they are talking about when they say things start to break down when you turn 30. I turned 30 last September, and not only can I feel it, but I can see it. I have random spots that have popped up on my face and I have dry spots so skincare has become important staple in my morning and night routine.
Now, as far as knowing what products work for me, it’s all a matter of trial and error. I’ve tried many brands and it’s only right that I try FentySkin. I mean it’s Rihanna, her skin is amazing! Not mention, I love FentyBeauty as well. So let’s get to it! This set comes with Total Cleans’r Remove It All Cleanser, Fat Water Pore Refining Toner Serum, and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer SPF 30 Sunscreen. I used the entire set last night and this morning, which makes my skin feel great at the moment, but not enough to tell how it works for me overtime, so I will continue to use it and provide an update.
The Products
Step 1: total cleans’r
Remove-It-All Cleanser.
Now before I use any cleanser, I always use make-up remover wipes to take off my make-up. I’ve tried using just a cleanser and it’s always a mess. I will have mascara running down my face and into my eyes and it just doesn’t work for me. When I used to the Total Cleans’r, I did not have makeup on at the time. So to be transparent, I don’t know how well it takes off make-up, however I did like how it made my skin feel afterwards. It wasn’t harsh on my skin and left my skin feeling refreshed. I know a lot of people were concerned about the fragrance, and rest assure, there is nothing to worry about. I can barely smell anything and if it’s there, it is very mild.
This is my favorite! I’m not sure if I’m biased because I love a good serum! (see next post) Now I honestly didn’t know when to use the serum because it’s so moisturizing that I didn’t want anything to go on my face afterwards. But this is Step 2 in the Fenty Skincare process. One of the main reasons, I love serums is because my skin tends to be more on the drier side and I feel like a good serum is what helps to keep the moisture locked in and it gives my skin a good glow. The Fat Water does just that. It feels light on my face, again, very mild fragrance, if any, and it gives that glow. I would honestly be ok if this was the last step in the process but it’s not so keep reading for the last step…

The last step. The Hydro-Vizor Sunscreen is to be used after the Fat Water. Now I can admit, this is my least favorite to use out of all three. This product does have a slight smell and it’s not as great as I wanted it to be. I’ve had better moisturizers. One thing I will say is that I love that this is a moisturizer with SPF. I only used sunscreen when going to the beach, and even then, I probably didn’t use it correctly. As I’m learning more about skincare, I’ve learned that sunscreen is needed on a daily basis, even if you’re not out in the sun. So if you’re looking for a product to protect your skin from the sun, this may be the one for you. I may just use this on arms and legs for protection against the sun and stick with the moisturizer I’ve been using.
MY THOUGHTS
Overall, I’m pleased with the Total Cleans’r and the Fat Water Serum. I would definitely buy these two again and keep in rotation. They are both moisturizing, no fragrance, and leave my skin feeling clean and refreshed. As for the SPF 30 Sunscreen Moisturizer, I wouldn’t buy it again as there is a stronger fragrance than the others, however I will continue to use the I have for arms and legs for sun protection.
UPDATE (9/15/20): About a month after using Fenty Skin both morning and night, I can definitely tell the difference. My face is softer and brighter. I will continue to use FentySkin, including the sunscreen. I got past the fragrance and I didn’t have any breakouts.
