Dopamine Dressing: Boost Your Mood With Your Outfits

It’s been 2+ years since the beginning of the pandemic and social media fed us luxe loungewear, monotoned outfits, and every brown and beige hue in the neutral rainbow. I can admit, I am a sucker for neutral and minimalist wardrobe but this Spring/Summer, I am going big and bold with my outfits. One of the fashion trends for 2022 is Dopamine Dressing, dressing with the intentions to boost your mood. This spring you will see bright and bold colors, fun patterns, and textures that gives that “feel good” feeling.

What is Dopamine?

According to WebMD (I know, but this time WebMD didn’t tell me I was dying) dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is responsible for helping us feel pleasure as a reward. For example, sex, shopping, smelling a good fragrance. All of these things can trigger a dopamine release, that feel good moment.

Research says adding more color and textures to your wardrobe has positive psychological effects on your mood. Electric blues, fuchsia dresses, vibrant outfits, rainbow dresses, and gradient dresses are all popular trends on Pinterest Predicts. You should feel good in whatever you’re wearing but dressing with the intention to boost your mood is a step that can transition from an “ok” day to a great day!

Yasmine, your style is timeless. Classy and classic. Thank you for bringing us the meaning of dopamine and how it relates to what’s going on right now and what we need in our lives. More color it’s time to get out of the funk. Thank you
