NYFW:: The Looks + The Deets

Saloni Dress

New York Fashion Week is finally back and it is one of the most anticipating times in Fashion. This was my first time attending NYFW and honestly, I planned to go at the last minute, literally a week and a half before. I had very little time to get a hotel, pull outfits together, and try to get into shows and events. I’m sharing how I did it all and my outfit details + how to get into the shows!

The Outfits

If you’ve been following me for a while then you may know I love neutrals and have a minimal wardrobe. For NYFW, I wanted more color and pieces outside of my normal everyday wardrobe. Due to having very little time and wanting one of a kind pieces, I decided to rent pieces from Rent The Runway. This was the best decision I made. It saved me money and time. The dress above is SALONI and the dress below is Petersyn, both from Rent The Runway.

The Shows

You can go to NYFW.com to find the schedule of shows. This can help you plan accordingly and scout out which shows you want to attend. At the bottom of the page you can find press contacts to various designers. Use these contacts to pitch and ask for an invitation to the show! You want to give a brief introduction, the date you will be in town, provide your social media handles, a good contact email. You can also request a +1 and include their name, email, and social media handles as well.

You can also download GPS Radar and request invitations on the app, which I find is easier. It’s free to create an account, however, you have to wait to be approved which can take a few days so I suggest creating an account a few weeks before attending NYFW.

Patience is the name of the game when waiting for a confirmation. One show, I did not get a confirmation until the day before the show, so make sure you go prepared as if you are going to a show because you never know when those confirmations will come through. This year, I was able to make it to two shows, Cynthia Rowley and Sienna Li. I also attended two panels that discussed Digital Creation and Representation & Identity in the Fashion Image with Jason Wu, Brandon Maxwell, and Bretman Rock, to name a few.
